Ph.D. Nikola Jocić

After completing his undergraduate and master’s studies in the Faculty of Geography, University of Belgrade, he began his doctoral studies in 2014 at Otto Friedrich University in Bamberg as a BAYHOST scholarship holder (Bavarian Academic Center for Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe). In 2018, he defended his dissertation entitled “Creative Economy in a Post-Socialist Transitional Context: Spatial Distribution of Creative Activities and Their Interrelation with Urban Milieus in City Quarters of Belgrade”. Thereafter, he worked as a research associate at the Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.

Currently, he is employed at the University of Belgrade as an assistant professor in the Department of Human Geography, Faculty of Geography. He is engaged in teaching the study programs of Geography, Tourism, and Demography.

He has participated in a number of scientific conferences and scientific research projects. His research interest is focused on the problems of urban development, cultural geography, post-socialist transition, renewable energy sources and geographic information systems.

Additionally, he is a member of the Serbian Geographical Society, “Regional Studies Association”, as well as a member of the editorial board of the scientific journal “Urban and Regional Planning”.
