The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the basic advantages and disadvantages of strategic spatial planning that have been experiencing a revival since the 1990s, especially in Europe. Special attention will be paid to the possibilities of applying the strategic planning concept in Serbia in the preparation of planning documents. The aim of the course is to familiarize the student with the concept of strategic spatial planning and the reasons for its revival, basic terminology, approaches and its practice at different territorial levels.

The outcome of the course will be to train the students for the use of modern methods and techniques in strategic spatial planning, practical application of the acquired knowledge on examples of these development documents in Europe and Serbia, as well as the recognition of the context of strategic spatial planning and other strategic documents in Serbia.

Theoretical lectures

Strategic spatial planning in Serbia and Europe (approaches, practices, benefits); strategic management; contents of strategic documents; basic methods: method of the scenario, model of strategic management (leadership, planning, implementation, monitoring, learning and adjustment, coordination, participation - public participation); the area of ​​spatial plans and other strategic documents; Spatial plan of the Republic of Serbia (PPRS) and Spatial Development Strategy of Serbia; development perspectives (polycentrism, regionalization, cooperation)

Practical lectures

Defining goals and methods for developing a strategic plan; presentation of strategic planning documents and principles in Europe and Serbia (PPRS, Spatial Development Strategy of Serbia, Development Strategies (Belgrade, Nis), master plans of tourism, etc., practical work: defining strategic priorities on a concrete case
