Getting students acquainted with a sociological interpretation of the processes in tourism, emphasizing multidimensionality of tourism and its place in the context of a contemporary society. Acquisition of specific knowledge and facts about contemporary tourism flows and tourist arrivals and stays, which have a reciprocal impact on the changes in the quality of life.
Special emphasis ofcontemporary features:
• free time as a stimulating factor of tourism activities
• contemporary tourism needs, and their place in the system of general human needs
• the impact of modernization processes on the relation between tourism and social development.
Training students for the application of fundamental theoretical knowledge on a specific tourism system. Familiarizing students with analytical elements of tourism development and social changes in contemporary tourismwithin the framework of empirical research (processing and application) of the social phenomenon of tourism.

Basic general sociological concepts in tourism; Social inequalities; Types of societies; Basic methods in the sociological study of tourism trends; State functions in social development; Culture; Forms of social consciousness; Work; Marriage and family; Personality; Leisure time; Tourism; Motives in tourism; Tourism and social development; Sociological structural changes in modern tourism; Postmodern society and tourism.
