Analysis of theoretical approaches, methodological solutions and research techniques of reproduction of the population. The consequences of different reproductive models. Examining current issues of demographic aging. Complex exploration of the interrelationship of aging of the population and other demographic processes.

Developing a critical, creative and systematic way of thinking. Acquiring application knowledge necessary for spotting issues and designing research.

Lectures

Different contexts of studying population reproduction. Traditional, transitional and contemporary models of reproduction. Newer theories about fertility decline. Newer analysis techniques. Important international projects on reproduction. The problem of population renewal in Serbia. UN Millennium Goals, WHO Activities. The demographic process of aging in the world and Serbia. Biodemographic interpretation of aging and longevity. New understanding of age. Interdependence of the model of reproduction, mortality and migration characteristics, and demographic aging. Demographic aging and demographic potentials. The effects of aging on social security, the pension system, health, disability and insurance. Examples of some important research projects on demographic aging in the world.
