Remote Sensing in Geography (NOG11I1)

The main aim is to research the elements of geographic space by methods of remote detection.

Possibilities of spatial-temporal monitoring, determination and differentiation of various aspects of the influence of natural processes and man impact on the geospatial area and the environment.

Theoretical lectures

1. Definition and principles of remote detection; Development of remote detection in the world and in Serbia; 2. Principles and types of recording; 3. Types of recordings; 4. Basic differences between aerial photographs and topographic maps; 5. The main elements of the aerial photograph; 6-9. Basic photogrammetry (vertical and bevel image scale, transfer of the main point of the image to the neighboring image, transfer of the main point of the image to the topographic map, approximate and absolute orientation of the image, altitude overhaul of the model, radial deformation, relative height measurement); 10. Cosmic recording; 11. Flight of satellites, recording devices (sensors), reception of satellite signals; 12-13. Earth observation programs (LANDSAT, SPOT, KOSMOS, RESURS, ERS, IRS, JERS, RADRSAT, METEOSAT, QUICK BIRD, IKONOS, CORINE LAND USE) 14. Geographic positioning systems, GPS; 15. Visit to Republic Geodetic Authority.

Practical lectures

1-3. The importance of aerial photographs and satellite images for geographical research purposes; 4-5. Use of certain types of images for different types of geographical research; 6-9. Concretization of basic photogrammetry through various types of practical tasks; 10-11. Photointerpretation on examples from physical geography; 12-13. Photointerpretation on examples from the environment.
