Modern tourism experiences important quantitative and qualitative changes, which primarily manifest in the dynamic growth of tourism, the globalization of the tourism market, the creation of new and more flexible forms of production and the consumption of services related to tourism trends. Economic liberalization, stimulating fiscal measures, simplification and reduction of the state administration had a favorable impact on the economic growth of tourism, but at the same time increasing attention is given to the ecological, social, ethical and cultural effects of tourism activity. Accordingly, the objective of the course is to present knowledge about the problems and tendencies of modern tourism development, in order to comprehensively comprehend the complexity of the tourist phenomenon, and to enable the management of tourism on a stable and sustainable basis.
Training students to apply different scientific methods (deduction, analytical-synthetic methods, generalization methods, comparative methods, mathematical-statistical methods, factor analysis, survey method) and to identify and monitor current problems, trends and perspectives of world tourism development.
Theoretical lectures

Factors that determine the tourist demand in the modern market (demographic, motivation, travel preferences, image, destination in relation to destination, previous experience, cultural affinities, leisure, paid travel). 2. Modern trends in tourism offer. 3. Modern trends in tourist demand. 4. Challenges related to the development of tourism in traditional and new tourist destinations. 5. Factors for entering a new destination on a tourist map. 6. The impact of globalization on tourism development. 7. Fragmentation of demand as a factor in the tourism development. 8. Vertical, horizontal and diagonal integration in tourism. 9. The place and role of tourism in the development of a "green" economy. 10. Development trends through e-tourism services. 11. Development of tourism in the new reality of the post-energy world. 12. Production segments in which the highest rates of tourism business are expected. 13. Problems in tourism development (gray economy, infrastructure, privatization ...). 14. Risks of travel - a new dimension of tourism development. 15. Key principles and methods of exploring the effects of modern tourism and demand forecasting.
