Acquiring knowledge of political geography as a scientific discipline, its history, theory, methods and practical values. Scientific explanation of links and relations between geographical and political elements of the state. Understanding the links and relations between political geography and geopolitics. Introduction to the subjects and characteristics of the new world order. Studying of the determinants of the political, geographical and geopolitical position of Serbia.
New knowledge about political-geographical concepts, phenomena and processes. Theoretical directions and science schools in political geography. Understanding complex links and relations between the elements of the state as a territorial-political system. Evidence that geographic elements and factors are important in geopolitical processes, as processes of genesis, evolution and transformation of territorial-political systems. Application of the acquired knowledge from the political geography in the teaching of geography.

POLITICAL-GEOGRAPHICAL THEORIES AND CONCEPTIONS: Sources of political-geographical ideas, directions of the development of modern political geography, methodological models of political geography as a scientific discipline; POLITICAL-GEOGRAPHICAL STRUCTURE OF THE STATE: Fundamentals for geographical theory of the state, space and power of the state, territorial sovereignity of the state; GEOGRAPHICAL POSITION OF THE STATE: Types of absolute and relative position; STATE TERRITORY: size, shape, geographical structure; STATE BORDERS: The types of land borders, border variations, principles of state delimitation, sea border, boundaries in the air; CENTRAL NUCLEUS AND THE CAPITAL CITY OF THE COUNTRY: Types of central nucleuses, types of capitals; ANTROPOGEOGRAPHIC DETERMINANTS OF THE STATE: Population and state, mation and state, culture and state, religion and state; ECONOMIC-GEOGRAPHICAL STRUCTURE OF THE STATE; STATE TYPES BY THE FORM OF SOCIAL-POLITICAL DEVICE: Types of political systems on the political map of the world, administrative division and territorial cohesion of the state; ELECTORAL SYSTEMS (electoral geography): Types and characteristics of electoral systems. Theories of the world system.
Practical lectures
Development of scientific research methods in political geography. Presentations of individual teaching units with the help of obvious tools. Analysis of critical hot spots on the political map of the world.
