Coastal tourism is the most massive type of tourist movements. The mass is related to the specific attractiveness of the hydroclimate complex of warm seashores. The aim of learning is to understand how warm seawater, clean air, pleasant temperatures, plenty of sunshine, coast and beaches with specific vegetation and aesthetics of landscapes benefit from tourist motives in the interior of the land. The tasks are to familiarize with the basic conditions for the development of coastal tourism, types of tourism, coastal tourist centers and regions in the Balkans, Europe and the world.
During the cours students should be able to independently examine and present the tourist potentials of a seaside, center or space. A comprehensive knowledge of natural conditions as a motive (excluding market research) is a way to understand and develop coastal tourism.
Theoretical lectures
1. The concept and importance of coastal tourism.
2. Sea as a tourist value.
3. The World Sea and the seasonal aspect of coastal tourism.
4. Characteristics of seawater in the function of tourism.
5. Climate characteristics above the oceans and the sea significant for tourism.
6. Types of coastline and islands of importance for tourism.
7. Coastal climate and thalassotherapy.
8. Coastal and island morphology as a tourist value.
9. A living world of seas and coasts as a tourist value.
10. Ecological basics of coastal tourism,
11. Ozone layer status and sunbathing.
12. Other characteristics of the sea and the coastline of importance for tourism.
13. Positive and negative impact of coastal tourism on the geographical environment.
14. Contemporary challenges of coastal tourism.
15. Natural features of particular coasts.
Practical lectures
Geographical position of coastal centers and and their links with more important urban centers; Facilities of tourist stay on the coast; Evaluation and presentation of hydrological characteristics of the sea and the ocean for tourism purposes; Evaluating and displaying the climate characteristics of the sea and the ocean for the needs of tourism; Evaluation and presentation of the geomorphological characteristics of the sea and the ocean for the needs of tourism; Evaluation and presentation of the biogeographical features of the sea and the ocean for the needs of tourism; Evaluation of ecological conditions for the development of coastal tourism; Analysis of natural tourist values of the coast of the Balkan Peninsula; Analysis of the natural tourist values of the Mediterranean coast; Analysis of the natural tourist values of the North-East Atlantic Coast; Analysis of the natural tourist values of the Caribbean coast; Analysis of the natural tourist values of the South American coast; Analysis of the natural tourist values of the Indian Ocean coast; Analysis of the natural tourist values of the coast of the Oceania; Comparative analysis of the characteristics of coastal tourist centers and regions of the world.
