Introduction and implementation of methodology of scientific research through selected issues from the specific scientific fields of geosciences - geography, as well as providing quality and modern knowledge and appropriate skills and competences in accordance with international standards, to acquired doctoral degree would be internationally accepted, which has so far been case with doctoral degrees from the Faculty of Geography in Belgrade.

Scientific, applied and educational value of the specific scientific fields of geosciences – geography. Forming a specialist educational profile, on which today are based geospatial studies and projections of demographic, social, regional, environmental, economic, spatial planning and other dimensions, with scientifically-founded appreciation of natural resources and limitations. The final outcome of the course relates to the application of the theory and methodology of geography in various areas of scientific problems and social practice through multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach.

Theoretical lectures

1. The development of theory and methodology in geosciences - geography, through all the specific scientific fields defined by the Statute of Faculty of Geography (Physical geography, Social geography, Regional geography, Cartography, Spatial planning, Tourism studies, Environmental studies and Demography); 2. Comparative overview of theoretical and methodological issues of traditional (classical) and modern geographical area research; 3. Periodization of the development of the theoretical and methodological basics of the geosciences; 4. Importance of Serbian geography in theory and methodology of geosciences; 5. Principles of scientific writing (articles, monographs etc).
