Familiarizing with the most important geopolitical theories and concepts and their demographic elements; Comprehension of the essential interdependence of the population and geopolitics.
Acquiring the knowledge about geopolitical foundations of global and regional changes and the essential interdependence of the population and geopolitics.
Theoretical lectures
Definition and conceptual-categorical apparatus of geopolitics. Development of the geopolitical thought. Demographic components of benchmarking geopolitical theories and schools. Geopolitical aspects of numerous movements and density of the population. “Living space” . Growth of the world population and contemporary geopolitical processes. The relationship between the population and the political and geographical elements of the state. Population as a factor of power. Geopolitical valorization of the differentiated natural population movements. Geopolitical causes and consequences of migration. Population and political systems. The diversity and polarization of the world's population. Processes of spatial transgression and regression of macro-groups (racial, religious, ethno-national...) of the world's population. Characteristic contact, conflict and ethnic crisis areas in the world. Balkan – demo – geopolitical phenomena, processes and perspectives.
Practical lectures
Independent student work and discussion of the characteristic geopolitical regions of the world. Crisis focal points in the world, the EU and the Balkans (their ethno-demographic basis and ethno-geopolitical characteristics). Creation of ethnic maps and other demographic maps of smaller areas (for example, the municipalities of Preševo, Bujanovac, Novi Pazar, Subotica).
