To acquaint students with the process of preparing an environmental impact assessment. Furthermore, students should get acquainted with the legal requirements for preparing an environmental impact assessment, and with the list of projects which necessitate the preparation of the study.

Students are able to make an environmental impact assessment.

Theoretical lectures

  1. The concept, aim, task and principles of environmental impact assessment;
  2. Environmental impact assessment in an international context;
  3. The methodological framework for preparing impact assessments;
  4. The procedure, participants and phases in the preparation process of the study;
  5. A study of environmental impact assessment;
  6. The relationship and links between impact assessments and environmental projects, plans and programmes;
  7. The decision-making process and public participation;
  8. The selection of indicators and data sources in the implementation process of an impact assessment;
  9. Specific features of preparing an impact assessment;
  10. The evaluation, control and implementation of an impact assessment;
  11. Practical examples;
  12. A simulation of preparing an environmental impact assessment;
  13. Decision about the preparation of the assessment;
  14. Public discussion;
  15. The adoption of documents.
