Ecological Potentials and Risks in Spatial Planning (NOPP32I2)

  • Level of study undergraduate studies
  • Teacher: Ph.D. Zora Živanović
  • Subject status: elective
  • ECTS: 5
  • Semester: VI
  • Number of classes: 2+2

Introducing students with basic ecological and environmental constraints in the context of spatial planning.

Through this course, students will be able to first identify the potentials of spaces that need to be carefully planned and stored, and the risks in a specific space that represent constraints in the planning and protection of space.

Theoretical lectures

1. Introduction to ecological potentials and risks in spatial planning. 2. Nature protection - protected natural assets (nature protection conditions, regimes and categories of protection; protection study). 3. Significant ecological networks in the territory of the Republic of Serbia (EMERALD, NATURA 2000), international protection areas on the territory of the Republic of Serbia (IBA, IPA, PBA, Ramsar, MAV, UNESCO). 4. Water resources in the territory of the Republic of Serbia; Water bodies and sources for regional drinking water supply; Sanitary zones of water resources protection in spatial planning; Elaborate on protection zones. 5. Quality agricultural land as ecological potential: Ecological (organic) agriculture in the world and in Serbia. 6. Renewable energy sources - concept and types of renewable energy sources and spatial conditions and potentials of Serbia. Solar energy - spatial conditions and potential of solar energy in Serbia; Wind Energy - Spatial Conditions and Potentials of Serbia. 7. Renewable energy sources: Biomass energy - biomass potential in Serbia; Small hydropower plants - spatial conditions and total hydro potential in Serbia; Geothermal energy - potentials of Serbia; Waste heat - concept, state of Serbia, potentials and limitations of application. 8. Ecological risks in spatial planning; Concept and division of environmental risks in spatial planning; Seismic hazard and risk; Seismic reionization; aseismic design. 9. Natural disasters and risks in spatial planning - landslides, landslides, droughts, floods; Planning and protection of areas in areas with natural risks. 10. Industrial hazard and risk; Chemical-technological accidents in Serbia; Legislation in the area of protection against technological accidents (SEVESO II directive). The role of spatial planning in accident risk control; Guidelines for the development of spatial and urban plans. Protective distances. 11. Criteria for environmental protection against negative impacts of economic activities. 12. Plans for protection against natural disasters and industrial accidents; Preventive protection measures; Ecological zoning of space; Sanitation programs and plans; Planning the protective green belts.
