Introduce students with basic and applied knowledge in the field of geospatial databases development and possibilities for their practical application.

After passing the exam, students will be able to clearly define the basic characteristics of geospatial databases. They will have basic and practical knowledge and skills in the field of development and use of geospatial databases.

Theoretical lectures
Introduction to databases. Database management systems. Conventional databases. Conventional SQL Queries. Geospatial data. Geospatial databases. Design of geospatial databases. Implementation and development of geospatial databases. Geospatial database architecture. Geospatial databases and WEB technologies. Geospatial topology. Geospatial relations (DE-9IM matrix). Geospatial SQL Queries. Application of geospatial databases. Final exam.

Practical lectures
Conventional Databases Creation. Conventional SQL Queries. Basic functions of GIS software. Practical test. Geospatial data. Sources and methods of geospatial data collection. Search and analyze geospatial data. Practical test. Geospatial Database Creation. Geospatial Queries. Practical test. Creating a topology. Finding and removing topological errors. Practical test. Presentation of seminar paper.
