Students introduct with subject and methodological basics of cultural geography. Students introduct with main theories and concepts about reciprocal relations and relations between cultural and demographic processes. Mastering the methods of exploring the process of the formation of cultural landscapes. Students also introduct with historical-geographical and demographical characteristics of civilization zones in the world. The aim of this subject is to highlight the individuality and trends that maintain diversity in the context of globalisation and to represent the contribution to the perspection of the new world.

Acquring a scientific view and a causal links and relations between natural, demographic and anthropogenic factors in the cultural-geographic process, as a process of genesis, evolution and tranformation of the cultural-geographic systems. Other outcomes are: understanding the morphological, typological, phenomenological and ecological characteristics of contemporary civilization zones in the world, the development of the global opinion about the reciprocal causality and correlation of cultural and geographical processes.

Cultural geography- object, tasks, methods. Territory in the cultural context: Cultural landscapes. Territory and identity. The notion and meaning of term „geoculture“. National sterotypes. Ethnical identity in the era of the cultural globalization and territoriality of culture. Mental maps of space and spatial behavior of people. Cultural iconography. Culture and religion. Cultural areas. Culture and capital. Culture and nature- relation of particular cultures to the natural environment. Cultural regionalisation of Balkan peninsula. The term of civilization: Scheme of linear evolution of civilizations of Sorokin. Špengler and cyclic concept. Toynbee and his classification of civilizations. Gumiljov and theory of passionarity. Geographical environment and civilizations in the history. The great civilization zones today: indian, chinese, japanese, southeast-asian, australian, arabic-islamic, western european, north american, latino american and african. Civilizations and cultural circles.

Practical lectures

Methods in cultural geography. Cartographical method in cultural geography (with examples). Mental maps. Cartographic presentation of civilizations. Analysis of the physical-geographic characteristics of civilization zones. Analysis of the anthropogeographic characteristics of civilization zones. Presentation of the cultural heritage of certain civilization zones. Analysis of certain cases.
