Basic of Statistics 2 (NOD12O2)

  • Level of study undergraduate studies
  • Teacher: Ph.D. Milica Bulajić
  • Subject status: obligatory
  • ECTS: 6
  • Semester: II
  • Number of classes: 2+2
  • Condition: /

The objective of the course is to teach the students to understand the logic of the statistical way of thinking, to learn to calculate and correctly interpret statistical indicators in order to correctly apply different statistical methods.

After completion of the course, students should develop the ability to independently carry out statistical analysis of complex phenomena in society and economy, characterized by stochastic-variable nature.

Theoretical lectures

Hypothesis testing. Hypothesis tests about a population mean. Hypothesis tests about a population proportion. Hypothesis tests about the difference between two population means. Hypothesis tests about the difference between two population proportions. Chi- square distribution.   Chi- square tests.  Simple linear regression. Least squares method. Simple linear correlation. Multiple Regression and correlation analysis. Analysis of variance. Indices. Time series analysis.

Practical lectures

Hypothesis tests based on one sample - One-way analysis of variance – Examples; Two-way analysis of variance - Chi- square tests - Simple linear regression - Multiple Regression and correlation analysis – Nonparametric tests – Individual indices -  Construction of group indices – Time series decomposition – Examples.
