This subject should show and explain the most important elements and theoretical aspects of spatial planning today in Europe and Serbia, and to refer to the practice of strategic planning at the regional, national and continental level. Particularly will be explained the tendencies of spatial integration at the crossborder, transregional and transnational level. It will also provide an overview of the basic techniques that are applied in spatial planning, primarily to evaluate individual strategies (scenarios, variants) from the point of view of costs and benefits or reaching goals, development thresholds, etc.
The outcome of the course will be to train a student to use modern methods and techniques in spatial planning, practical application of acquired knowledge on examples of spatial development strategies of municipalities in Serbia, as well as how to use strategic documents in Europe and Serbia in future planning practice.
Theoretical lectures
(1) Analysis and synthesis as forms of thinking and parsing and covering space issues: (2) closed and open forms of thinking; (3) Space as an object of analysis and synthesis; (4-5) Economic-ecological-aesthetic characteristics of space; (6) Different methods of analysis and synthesis; (7) The method of making a spatial plan in Europe and Serbia today; (8) Evaluation of variants and the path to synthesis in space; (9) Spatial Development Strategy; (10) Region and regional planning; (11) The city and its region; (12) Identity as a basis for planning; (13) Plan and its implementation; (14) Government and governance; (15) Public participation in spatial planning
Practical lectures
SWOT analysis and other planning techniques (development thresholds, etc.); Method of defining goals and evaluating variants (multi-criteria, cost / benefit, etc.); Method of defining the concept of the plan; Defining the strategy and the basics of implementation - simulation of the development of the plan; Defense of practical work
